The Ashford Big Quiz raised more than £9,000 for charity.
Held at the Ashford International Hotel last Friday, the 49 teams competing were quizzed on all manner of subjects.
During the evening quizmaster Simon Dolby, head of the KM charity team, paid a moving tribute to Mike Power, captain of the Bonny Cravat pub quiz team from Woodchurch who died of cancer two weeks before the event. Mr Power, 80, had been a regular at KM Big Quiz events for more than a decade.
His team competed at last Friday’s event under the name Tenterden Club and fittingly were crowned winners after pipping Supernova to first place by just three points.
Full story of the Big Quiz, including pictures of all 49 competing teams, will appear in a special report in the Kentish Express out on Thursday.
