Driver caused cars to swerve in escape from police

POLICE are hunting the driver of a damaged car that failed to stop for a patrol this morning.

The incident took place in Ashford at around 10.55am. A blue Seat Toledo - which had a smashed rear windscreen - sped off through traffic lights in Beaver Road causing cars to swerve out of its way.

The male driver headed up Badmunstereifle Road to junction 10 of the M20. Traffic was queuing back to Barry Road and police say the car may have used the grass verge to pass stationary vehicles.

Police have since received reports of the man driving dangerously and erratically up to junction 6 of the motorway.

Anyone with information about the car, which had a registration of M394 0TM, is asked to contact police on 07870 252412 or 07870 252404.
