Drunk Sian Thomas, from Lewisham, bit and racially abused police officer at Ashford Premier Inn hotel

A drunken woman, who launched a vile racist rant at a police officer in an Ashford hotel, has been sent to a young offenders' institute for eight months.

Foul-mouthed Sian Thomas, 20, screamed and abused the officer before biting him after being ordered to leave the Premier Inn.

Canterbury Crown Court heard how police had been called after Thomas, of Brockley, Lewisham, had a bust-up with her partner in the hotel room in January.

Prosecutor Andrew Espley said the officer had decided to try to keep the peace by leading the screaming Thomas away to calm down.

Instead she launched a tirade of racist expletives aimed at PC Jason Talijancic – including calling him "a white dog" - before biting him on the forearm causing swelling and bleeding.

Hotel worker Thomas, who admitted racially-aggravated assault, claimed she was embarrassed because she was walked through the lobby wearing just her underwear and a cardigan.

Her lawyer Phil Rowley said: "She was upset because she was only partially dressed, wearing only her underwear, when she was being removed and wasn't able to do up the buttons of her cardigan.

"She was somewhat exposed and in drink complained about it and accepts she over-reacted.

"She is now deeply remorseful and accepts she has mental health issues, including difficulty in dealing with her anger."

Judge Adele Williams told her: "You behaved in a wholly unacceptable way that day when you were drunk and staying in the hotel.

"You screamed abuse at the police officer, using some very, very unpleasant racist abuse.

"He was doing no more than his job. You were completely out of control and this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated."
