Rolvenden man Christopher Jee, 27, drunkenly hits girlfriend in the face

A father-of-two was rapped by a judge for drunkenly hitting his partner in the face, as she held their baby daughter.

Christopher Jee, 27, slapped his partner around the face after she refused to let him play music, because of their 18-month-old child.

Jee, of Sparkeswood Avenue, Rolvenden, was sentenced at Folkestone Magistrates' Court on Wednesday after he was convicted of the assault in April.

The court heard how Jee, who has not worked for ten years, was outside the property drinking when he asked for the music to be played.

Prosecuting, Neil Sweeney explained: “Mr Jee had left the address, returned with a friend, and was described as being very drunk.

“The victim was sitting on the sofa with her daughter on her lap, when he slapped her around the face.

“She described it as 'out of nowhere’.”

Reading out the victim statement, Mr Sweeney continued: “I had no financial support from him.

“I am making my statement for my daughter.”

He went on that Jee denied the attack in a police interview, claiming he wouldn’t hit a woman and she was provoking him.

The court heard how Jee, diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and a personality disorder, hadn’t worked for ten years.

ADHD is a group of behavioural symptoms that include inattentiveness, hyperactivity and impulsiveness.

Now, he admits to drinking four or five beers a day and is a “five out of 10 for drunkenness.”

District Judge Justin Barron gave him a 12 month community sentence and ordered him not to contact his ex-partner for two years.

He must pay £585 in fines and be on house arrest for 12 weeks from 8pm to 6am.

Judge Barron added: “This was a slap.

“There was reddening caused but no other significant injury.”
