A horse was rescued from a water-filled ditch in Lydd this morning.

Emergency services were called after the 16-hand animal became trapped in Dungeness Road around 8am.

Firefighters from Faversham's animal rescue unit attended, and used a crane and harness to remove the horse from the ditch.

It was then left in the care of its owner.
