Scott Porter believes Hythe Town are reaping the benefits of having a settled squad after another impressive pre-season outing.

Town made it 10 goals scored and none conceded in three games with a 4-0 victory at Ashford United on Tuesday.

Craig Thompson gave them an early lead before Dave Cook, Taser Hassan and Jake Hobbs struck in the second half.

Manager Porter (pictured) said: "Ashford gave us our toughest test. I thought they would because they have good players and have had decent results against Ramsgate, Folkestone and Erith & Belvedere in pre-season.

"But we looked fit and sharp and the boys know they’ve got to be at their best. That's 10 goals scored and we haven’t looked like conceding, with Craig Cloke making a massive difference with his talking and experience at the back.

"The good thing is we haven’t changed things an awful lot. This is the fourth year we’ve had pretty much the same squad, just adding bits and pieces here and there."

Hythe go to Sutton Athletic on Saturday (3pm) and take on Bromley Green at home on Tuesday (7.45pm).
