Kitchen destroyed in house fire

A fire destroyed a house’s kitchen and spread to a bedroom and conservatory.

The blaze broke out at Hampton Lane, Brook, with firefighters at the scene for four hours.

A total 100 per cent fire damage was caused to the kitchen and 50 per cent to the conservatory.

Firefighters says the flames had begun to creep up to a bedroom directly above the kitchen but only went as far as the flooring.

Ashford station firefighter Neil Jones said: “We were able to stop it going further but there was also smoke damage to a room adjacent to the kitchen.

“The occupants were able to get out of the property in time.

“We are still investigating the cause of the fire but we believe it was accidental.”

Three fire engines and a water unit from Ashford were used in the blaze, which broke out at 8pm on Wednesday.
