Section of M20 in Ashford closed due to medical emergency

A section of a busy motorway was closed following a medical emergency in a vehicle.

Emergency services were at the scene of the “police-led incident” which unfolded on the M20 westbound in Ashford this afternoon.

There were residual delays of 45 minutes in the area and the route was shut from junction eight to junction nine, with the latter’s slip road also blocked.

A police spokesman said: “Officers attended a medical incident in a vehicle on the westbound M20 between Junctions 9 and 8 at 2.45pm today.

“The carriageway was closed while the incident was responded to but has since reopened.”

The road reopened at about 4.30pm.
