Neil Cugley heaped praise on his young side after they moved out the Ryman League Premier Division relegation zone and insisted: "We’ve got enough to beat the drop."

Invicta won their first game on the road this season at Margate on Tuesday night, with Darren Smith and Josh Burchell’s goals the difference at Hartsdown Park.

The result left Cugley beaming with pride and renewed his confidence that his young guns have enough to keep them in the division.

"We’re not kidding anyone - we’re in a relegation battle - but if we perform like we did against Margate we’ll stay up," said Cugley.

"It was a massive win. They have some quality players and are a quality side, so to go and beat them is a huge lift for everyone. It gives the lads the belief and confidence they can beat sides like this – they were exceptional."

Folkestone leapfrogged Maidstone United with the win but remain just a point from the bottom four, although Cugley believes it’s a situation they will have to get used to.

"It’ll be hard and I think it’ll go to the wire but we’ve got enough to beat the drop," he said.

Invicta welcome Bury Town (Saturday) and Carshalton Athletic (Tuesday) to end a run of away games. Paul Jones remains on the sidelines, while Darren Smith will serve a one-game ban on Tuesday.
