Worker punched in raid on bookmakers

THIEVES stole cash and assaulted a member of staff during a robbery at a bookmakers.

Three men, all said to be in their 20s, came into the shop in Court Wurtin, Ashford, at around 6pm on Monday evening.

Two of the men grabbed cash from the tills while the third appeared to be keeping a look out on the shop floor.

A member of staff who approached one of the men was pushed to the ground and punched by one of the robbers. The worker suffered facial injuries which required hospital treatment.

The three men ran from the shop, and it is thought they turned right and into an alleyway that leads in to the housing estate.

The man who kept look out is described as possibly white, about 5ft 10ins tall, wearing a black mask, dark clothing and a hooded top.

The man who assaulted the staff member is described as Afro-Caribbean, over 6ft tall, and of slim build. He was wearing dark jeans and a dark hooded top.

The third man is also described as Afro-Caribbean, about 5ft 10ins, and of slim build. He was also wearing dark jeans and a hooded top.
