Ashford Hockey Club crash back to earth

After their six-goal win against Epsom the previous weekend, Ashford were brought down to earth on Saturday when they lost 6-2 at second-placed Wimbledon in the South Premier League second division.

They were never able to recover from conceding three goals in the opening 15 minutes, due to some very poor defending, but Mike Wood pulled one back before half-time with a well-taken goal on the break.

The second half, however, belonged to Wimbledon and they added three more goals with Ashford managing only one in reply.

Ashford have dropped to 8th-place in the table with this defeat, but hope to get back on track in their home match with Winchester this Saturday (2.30pm).
