Police tape off Dane John Gardens in Canterbury after sexual assault

Dane John Garden has been taped off following a sexual assault.

Police sealed the popular city centre park in Canterbury after a woman was attacked in the early hours.

A large section near the band stand was being guarded by officers but the tape was removed at about 6.15pm.

Police have searched two areas of Dane John Gardens and a car park in Rheims Way.

Spokesman Martin Very said: "Kent Police is investigating a report a woman was sexually assaulted by a man in Canterbury after 1am and before 4.30am.

"Officers are searching two areas in Dane John Gardens and a car park in Rheims Way and enquiries, including the examination of CCTV footage, are ongoing."
