Undergrowth and gorse land on fire near Canterbury Golf Club in Littlebourne Road

The cause of a bush fire near a golf club is being treated as “suspicious”.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of gorse land and undergrowth alight in woodland near Canterbury Golf Club in Littlebourne Road, Scotland Hills, Canterbury at 1.45pm yesterday.

Five fire engines, a fogging unit and an all-terrain vehicle attended, and crews extinguished the flames using hose reel jets in just over 90 minutes.

No injuries were reported, but firefighters say the cause is believed to be suspicious.
