A team has closed off the inside lane and put down sand to help mop up the spillage but it has led to long tailbacks.

One kmfm listener reported being stuck in traffic for an hour.

Kent Highways say: "The A2 is currently closed eastbound between A2050 Canterbury and A260 Barham following a fuel spillage.

"Please use an alternative route and allow extra time for your journey."
