Man badly hurt after car hits telegraph pole

POLICE are seeking witnesses to an accident in which a car left the road and struck a telegraph pole, seriously injuring a rear seat passenger.

The incident happened in Hackington Road, Canterbury, at around 2.30am on Sunday morning.

The injured passenger in the Vauxhall Nova, an 18-year-old man from Herne Bay, suffered serious neck injuries and had been transferred to a hospital in London for treatment.

Two men, aged 20 and 21 and both from Herne Bay, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink-driving. Both have been bailed by police until the January 19.
