Men escape with minor injuries after A2 crash at Bridge

Firefighters say there are amazed two men escaped with only minor injuries after a serious road accident on the A2 at Bridge.

The car they were in rolled several times and was severely crushed in the early hours of Friday morning.

Two crews from Canterbury and two ambulances attended the scene on the London bound carriageway around 4am. Three cars and a van towing a trailer were involved.

All eight occupants were already out of the vehicles when the emergency services arrived and taken to hospital. But none were said to be seriously hurt.

Incident commander and blue watch manager from Canterbury fire station, Mark Jones said: “This accident proves that seat belts save lives because the Ford Focus, which had rolled several times, was badly crushed and we were amazed to see the two male occupants had got out relatively unscathed.”

The road was closed for several hours while police organised for the vehicles and debris to be cleared from the carriageway.
