Canterbury Men’s 1sts left it late to
clinch an important 3-2 victory over Oxted on Sunday.

It was Canterbury’s third victory
in as many weeks in the Conference East and although only by narrow
margins, the team are continuing to produce the right result.

Sunday’s match saw Canterbury take a
fourth minute lead over their hosts through Michael Farrer.

Oxted levelled the scores after 16
minutes with a goal from Andrew Baggs and the same player
put Oxted ahead nine minutes into the second half.

Home side Oxted were awarded with a
penalty stroke and Baggs put his side ahead.

Canterbury refused to give in and
after 65 minutes the visitors were awarded a penalty corner. Kwan
Browne stepped up and produced his 15th goal for the club in
spectacular style.

At 2-2 the game was open to both
sides, but with momentum from Browne’s equaliser, Canterbury went
on to get another penalty corner. This time it was the turn of
Farrer to convert and Oxted were unable to find a way back into the
game.

Canterbury women conceded the lead
three times against Bowdon Hightown in the Women’s Premier
Division, with the match ending 4-4.

Two goals in two first half minutes
put Canterbury into a strong position with Mel Clewlow and Sarah
Kerly scoring.

Bowdon levelled it up with two goals of their own early in the second half but Marissa Alves’ effort put Canterbury back in the lead.

The visiting Bowdon side made it 3-3
but Jenny Hall put Canterbury in the lead once more, only to
concede again.
