Parrot at Wingham Wildlife Park in Canterbury returns after escape

A parrot which went missing after being scared by seagulls has returned home.

The bird from Wingham Wildlife Park in Canterbury, received a warm welcome from her fellow parrots when she returned.

After going missing on Tuesday, the zoo posted on social media urging nearby residents to keep an eye out for her.

Their post, which included a picture of the green and red bird, was shared 212 times.

The park has now shared a picture of the parrot on the shoulder of a zookeepers, explaining she was spotted in a tree on the lake at Wingham.

“Thank you so much to everyone who has been keeping an eye out for our girl,” the post read.

“She had stayed in the area and was spotted in a tree on the lake here at the park.

“All her parrot friends were so excited to be reunited with her that they all adorably started shouting "hello" to each other!”
