Sex attack in Canterbury sparks e-fit appeal

A teenage girl sexually assaulted in a city underpass fled to a nearby pub to raise the alarm.

The victim was in the subway between Castle Street and Wincheap and heading to Canterbury East train station when a man ran at her and grabbed her.

She raised the alarm at the pub and her attacker fled on foot towards Thanington.

Police have today released an e-fit image of the suspect, who is described as 18, 5ft 10ins and unshaven.

He was wearing a blue sports jacket and grey jogging bottoms.

walking towards Canterbury East Station at around 5.30pm when she said a man ran into her and grabbed her.

An appeal was launched after the attack at 5.30pm on Sunday, February 7.

DC Dick Dawkins said: “We would like to thank those people who contacted us following the appeal.

“If there is anyone else who is able to assist our investigation and hasn’t yet called us, or perhaps they recognise the man in the image, we would ask them to call us.”
