Young man's leg severed by train

BRITISH Transport Police are investigating an incident in which a man's leg was severed by a train near the Canterbury West station. The train struck the 23-year-old near the level crossing in St Dunstan's Street.

The victim's leg was cut off below the knee and he was taken to hospital for emergency surgery. Sgt Tony Riley said: "His condition is poorly but stable. We do not believe there were any suspicious circumstances."
