Canterbury triumph in sixes event again

CANTERBURY won the ECB Regional Six-A-Side county finals for the fourth time in six years, beating Broadstairs by 20 runs at the Kent Academy on Sunday.

The victory avenged last year’s final-over defeat against the Thanet club and they now meet Sussex champions Preston Nomads in the last 32 of the national event at Portslade this weekend.

Skipper Simon Smith said: "We played some good cricket throughout, and it was a fine all-round performance with everyone chipping in with bat, ball and in the field."
