Beth Carter enjoyed international success running for England in the Seville IAAF Cross-Country event in Santiponce, Spain, at the weekend.

The 16-year-old Invicta East Kent athlete was the leading under-17 over the 4km course, and finished third under-20 behind England team-mates Lily Partridge (Aldershot, Farnham & District) and Katie Knowles (Bristol).

Carter, a Kent College pupil who lives at Westbere, has been used to training in snow and ice over the last few weeks and her father Steve said: “There was a real buzz. The temperature was around 60 degrees and the course was dusty, quite a change from what she has been used to.”
