CANTERBURY CITY have named Dave Fairclough as their new boss after Bill Clark quit the club.

Fairclough, 45, who works for HM Customs and lives in Tankerton, steps up from his role as reserve team manager, with Bob Vidler now doing that job.

He said: "From the meetings I have had with the chairman, Phil Knight, and the committee, I feel we are in complete agreement about the way the club should progress.

"I have been impressed with the way they have gone about the task of setting up the club from scratch.

"I am confident that we will have a strong enough group to make an impact in our first season."
