A NORTH Kent village is wondering whether it was once home to one of television's most famous faces.

Village rumour has it Hartley Bottom was once home to Dixon of Dock Green actor Jack Warner and his two sisters.

The village myth has been reignited this week because home owner Cllr David Brazier is selling the house in North Ash Road once thought to have belonged to JacK Warner.

Cllr Brazier, a Kent County Councillor, has heard the television-tale many times since buying the house 22 years ago but is unsure whether there is any truth in it.

He said: "I just happened to mention to the estate agent that reputation it has, that it belonged to Jack Warner or his two sisters.

According to the village tale both Jack Warner, whose real name was Horace John Waters, and his sisters Doris and Elsie Waters lived in Cllr Brazier’s house in the 1940s or 50s.

Parish council records no longer date back that far while Dartford council’s electoral roll, which the village came under at the time, only goes as far back as 1961.
