Dartford Valley RFC launch youth team with fun activity day at Leigh Academy

Young scrum-stars in Dartford finally have a chance to represent their town thanks to the launch of a new rugby youth club.

Dartford Valley RFC kicked off its new era of youth games with an activity day on Sunday attended by over 120 rugby-loving youngsters and their families.

The school fields of The Leigh Academy were host to a BBQ, bouncy castle, raffle, music and an obstacle course all to raise the profile of the new club as well as cash for Ellenor and British Legion charities.

Town mayor Cllr Avtar Sandhu (Con) and council leader Cllr Jeremy Kite (Con) also popped down to meet everyone involved.

A spokesman for the club said: “As the only Rugby club in Dartford, Dartford Valley RFC is embarking on an ambitious journey to become a fully inclusive community club for the town. The first step of this journey is to create a professional and well organised Youth Section that caters for all ages of boys & girls (3-16).

“The club has been overwhelmed by the reaction of the Dartford community since it announced it was planning the Youth launch and is determined to satisfy the evident demand for youth sport in Dartford with a professional and structured Youth offering.”

The team also has plans to launch dedicated ladies and wheelchair rugby teams once the youth group has been established.
