Dartford chairman Dave Skinner says the hard work on preparing for Blue Square Bet Premier football is just getting under way.

The Darts beat Welling in the Blue Square Bet South promotion play-off final a month ago to earn promotion to the Blue Square Bet Premier.

However, chairman Mr Skinner (pictured), who helped steer the club back up the ladder from the Kent League, revealed: "I think the smiles lasted about two days and then the realisation of the hard work ahead of us hit home.

"There is a lot of work to do and we are getting on with it now.

"We are now in what is known as a designated league which means there are a lot more health and safety things to worry about.

"We’re in the process of doing that now and are sitting down with the police to discuss which games are recommended for crowd segregation next year – because some certainly will be."

He added: "Going full-time is definitely something we want to do further down the line, we have to for longevity. But for now, it’s important to set a foundation in the division."
