Firefighters spend three hours battling Dartford grass blaze

Flames have consumed an area of grassland in Dartford the size of two football pitches.

More than 20 firefighters, from Dartford and Gravesend, spent about three hours tackling the blaze in Cotton Lane, which started at about 3.20pm yesterday (Wednesday).

A spokesman said at its peak the flames had spread over about two hectares.

Crews eventually had the fire under control by about 6pm. It's unclear how it started.
