Box2Beat at Stone Pavilion, Hayes Road, to help mum of three Alix Manders

Fundraisers will be sweating their way to success as they raise money to help pay for a young mum’s cancer treatment.

AJ Fitness & Health is hosting Box2Beat, at Stone Pavilion in Hayes Road on Saturday, 11.30am–1.30pm.

It will be raising money for Alix Manders, a mother of three boys, who in November 2014, at 22 weeks pregnant, discovered a huge mass in her left ovary.

She had emergency surgery to remove it, but doctors also found a tumour on her colon. It was cancer.

Her treatment was delayed until her son could be born at 30 weeks. By this time, the cancer was spreading at a fast pace to other organs.

A week after her son’s birth, she began 12 rounds of chemotherapy and the tumours shrank.

Several months of gruelling treatment and surgery followed but then a scan showed cancer on the lining of her abdomen.

Alix was told there was nothing more doctors could do to cure her on the NHS. Her only chance is immunotherapy but it’s expensive.

More than £44,000 has been raised so far but there is a long way to hit the £100,000 target.

On her fundraising page, Alix, who is from Woking, said: “So here I am - I am not ready to give up and I am not ready to leave behind my three loving boys and the most amazing mum and family I could ever wish for.”

Tickets for Box2Beat can be bought on the door. They cost £8. There is also a raffle.
