Two horses managed to break out of their field and make their way into a front garden.

Lola and Vito were seen nibbling grass from a lawn in Manor Close, Wilmington.

Clark Spillane, whose front garden the horses were in, was at work when they arrived, but his neighbour made sure to take a picture.

He said his children Isabella, 11, and Connor, 9, were "thrilled" when they saw them.

"I see these horses all the time when I walk my dog, so it was nice for them to come and visit me for a change," he said.

Lola is 12 years old, and Vito is 28. They were found at around 3.30pm on Thursday.

Megan Palmer, who owns them, said: "One of them rubbed their bum on the fence which then gave way, they managed to get through the shrubbery into the kennels next door.

"They then got out onto the lane and found their way to the footpath then to the road they were found on.

"We had a call pretty quickly from someone who knew the horses so couldn't have been gone for more than 10 minutes before we were running after them."

The fence has now been boarded up and the horse have been moved to a different field.

Megan's sister Ellenor said: "Sorry to everyone, they smashed their fences down and went on an adventure from Hook Green Lane. Thank you to everyone who kept them safe and sorry about your grass."
