Drivers faced delays at Dartford Crossing after one tunnel was closed for emergency pothole repairs

Motorists faced delays earlier at the Dartford Crossing after one of the tunnels had to be closed so a pothole could be fixed.

Drivers travelling towards Essex were facing queuing traffic because the emergency repairs needed to be carried out.

Two lanes were closed on the approach to the Dartford Tunnel anticlockwise on the M25 from J1A for Swanscombe to J31 for Lakeside and Purfleet.

Highways England said the right hand tunnel was closed for the emergency repairs and the left hand tunnel which is smaller at only 4.8 meters high remained open.

Shortly after 9.20am all lanes were re-opened and queues started to ease.
