Charlton manager Phil Parkinson responded to the news that injured right-back Graeme Murty will be out for four weeks by swooping for Crystal Palace's Danny Butterfield on a month's loan.

The 29-year-old right-back makes his debut in tomorrow's home game against Doncaster Rovers.

Murty, who had been on loan from Reading, limped out of Saturday's 1-1 draw at Swansea with a calf strain. He was subsequently diagnosed with a grade 2 tear that will keep him out for a month.

His loan was due to expire after tomorrow night's game but he immediately returned to the Madejski Stadium for treatment.

Parkinson, meanwhile, agreed a month's loan with Palace for Butterfield who trained with the squad on Monday. Palace can recall him after the first 28 days of the loan.

He has been a regular for the Eagles this season, making 30 appearances.

Parkinson said: "I'm absolutely delighted that we've been able to sign a player of Danny's high calibre and experience.

"He knows our captain, Mark Hudson, well from their time together at Palace, along with Darren Ward.

"He also knows Tom Soares, who played alongside him at Palace before moving to Stoke.

"So there are familiar faces, which helps when you arrive at another club."
