Charlton have allowed out-of-favour midfielder Amdy Faye to join Premier League Stoke with a view to a move to the Britannia Stadium.

The Senegal international played in part of Friday's friendly against Spanish side Osasuna and is expected to play in another friendly tomorrow (Monday).

Manager Alan Pardew, who said last week that he regarded Faye's future as away from The Valley, explained "Stoke want to take a look at Amdy and I've agreed to what I would describe as a viewing.

"I would think their manager Tony Pulis will make up his mind next week. Tony's got a bit of a cheek taking him on trial but I felt it was best for the lad.

"Especially when he came on last week in the friendly against Bilbao and was booed by the crowd. So it's difficult for him here now.

"If he does come back here we'll have to start building bridges with everyone."

Faye, who cost £2 million when he joined from Newcastle in 2006, spent much of last season on loan with Glasgow Rangers.

The club are believed to be ready to unload him on a free as he remains their highest paid player.
