Becky Loftus and Dean Mossop decorate their home for Pilgrims Hospices

A home illuminated by Christmas lights is a must see spectacle in Elizabeth Carter Avenue, in Deal.

Owners Becky Loftus, 36, and her partner Dean Mossop have decorated the outside for the fifth year running in aid of charity.

Miss Loftus said: “We started off with about three sets of lights, and now I don’t have a clue how many we have.”

This year they are supporting Pilgrims Hospices.

Last year, they donated use of their house, and electricity, to Dean’s niece Stephanie Curry, 27, who was collecting for Bliss, the charity that helps babies who were born too early or poorly.

It was close to their heart as Stephanie’s daughter Gracie, was born prematurely, and thanks to a ground breaking treatment, researched and funded by Bliss, Gracie survived.

To celebrate the work Bliss does, they held a family event, coinciding it with the grand switch-on, which the whole family was involved in preparing.

Although this year’s switch-on, on Tuesday, December 1 was more low key, the display is just as eye-catching, and a treat for families to visit.

Donations can be made, if wished, to Pilgrims Hospices. Just knock on the door with your cash or cheques.

The donation will go into a sealed box, and those who give, will receive a wrapped present for a child from Miss Loftus and Mr Mossop.

A representative from Pilgrims will collect the donations in January and inform them of the amount they have collected.

In previous years they have supported Macmillan Cancer Support, and the British Heart Foundation.

You can visit the lights at 9 Elizabeth Carter Avenue, Deal, any time after dusk when they will be switched on. Donations can be made to Pilgrims Hospices by cash or cheque throughout the day.
