Deal Hospital hosted its own “super Saturday” when the sun shone and the crowds came out in force for the annual fete.
There were stalls galore, a belly dancer, a fancy dress competition, a magician, music, refreshments and a steam train offering rides for visitors.
President of the Hospital League of Friends Maureen Bane said: “It was a lovely fun afternoon and the people showed a great spirit.
“We made more than £7,000 and, after expenses, we will have a profit of £6,000-plus, which was up on last year’s fete. This is fantastic considering economic times and considering it was pouring down just before we started to put things out in the morning.
“We had a bit of rain as we started but then it was brilliant sunshine. There was lots for the children to do and the Ukelele Trio had people dancing away and signing."
Mrs Bane, who opened the fete from the hospital balcony, said the cash raised will go towards a sensor system for a bed or chair and an air-powered lifting chair to raise a patient from a lying to a sitting position at the touch of a button.
