Eastry's Sam Gibbons, of Royal St George’s (handicap 13), and Deal’s Ben Capper, of Broome Park (h16), finished runners-up in the Daily Express Global Golfers competition at the Runaway Bay Breezes resort in Jamaica.

After the first round the pair were in second place on 71 points, one point behind the leaders.

The second day was less productive but 64 points were enough to keep them in second. In a tense final round, the pair pushed three points in front.

The early joy of beating their closest rivals was short lived, however, as a late surge from the fourth-placed Spanish contingent was enough to pip the Kent duo by two points and take the overall title.
