Blaze victim identified by fingerprints

A MAN who died in a house fire in Dover was today named as 53-year-old cost engineer Allan Rout.

Firefighters were called to Mr Rout's home in Mayfield Avenue in the early hours of Friday, January 31. They discovered his body on the kitchen floor. He was certified dead at the scene.

An inquest into his death was opened today at Folkestone. Pathologist Charles Lawson said Mr Rout had died from asphyxia due to smoke inhalation.

Mr Rout’s body had been identified by means of his fingerprints. The hearing was adjourned.
