Body found on beach is identified

THE death of a man whose body was discovered on Shakespeare beach at Dover last Thursday is not being treated as suspicious, say police.

The man has been named as Brian Angliss, who was in his 50s and came from Upminster in Essex.

The body was found by a walker on the foreshore. A bag of clothes on the beach nearby was later examined by police as part of their investigation.

Kent Police liaised with other forces to establish Mr Angliss’ identity and to ask for his next of kin to be informed.

The Port of Dover Police were first on the scene last Thursday morning in an inflatable rib - the first occasion they have used the vessel to assist in the recovery of a body.

They later landed at Crosswall Quay where Kent Police and the coroner took over the investigation.

The vessel was launched in April as a result of an extensive security review within the port. It is manned by members of the 60-strong force who have volunteered for the duty.
