Crews were called to the scene in the back garden of a house in Sandwich Road, Dover just before 3pm yesterday.

Two fire engines attended, and firefighters doused the flames using a hose reel jet.

No one was injured.

A fire service spokesman said: “It’s believed the fire could have started due to sunlight refracting from a glass solar light ornament onto the decking.”

It comes as temperatures hit 30c in the county over the weekend.

The mercury is expected to reach the mid-20s today.
