There was a very special passenger on board a cross-Channel ferry from Dover, when actor David Jason filmed for a new television series.

Mr Jason, well known for his classic TV characters such as Del Boy in Only Fools and Horses, Inspector Frost and Granville in Open All Hours, was filming at the Eastern Docks and on board a Norfolkline ferry for a new comedy drama Albert’s Memorial, due to be screened across ITV network in 2009.

Taking breaks from filming on board Maersk Dunkerque, while sailing to Dunkirk, the actor was invited to meet the ship’s Master, Captain Chris Roe, who showed him around the ship’s controls.

Mr Jason also took time out between filming to meet Norfolkline shore side staff in the Eastern Docks, as the staff played a key role in the filming of many sequences, featuring a London taxi and many other vehicles boarding Norfolkline ferries, as part of the programme.
