Man of 49 arrested after shop robbery at Eythorne, Dover

A man has been arrested following a shop robbery today.

The bandit fled in a car when bystanders rushed to stop the raid.

Police were called to the business in Sandwich Road, Eythorne, at 7.16am when the incident had just taken place.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "It was reported a man wearing dark clothing had entered the premises and demanded money from staff.

"A quantity of cash was stolen from the till and the man left the scene by car when members of the public intervened."

Later this morning officers arrested a 49-year-old man on suspicion of robbery.

He remains in custody.
