Teacher in horror crash on the mend

A SCHOOL teacher who suffered serious multiple injuries after a road crash earlier this month is recovering in hospital.

Dr Shaun Kirby, 34, was trapped beneath a car after being thrown from his motorbike when the two collided at Capel on Sunday, February 15.

Dr Kirby, a chemistry teacher at Archers Court School, Dover, was transferred from the William Harvey Hospital at Ashford to St George's Hospital at Tooting.

In a statement issued by the London hospital, his father Ian said: "After a week in two hospitals and three intensive care units, he is out of danger and in a normal ward. He has many internal and external injuries to heal.

"He is eager to get well and return to his teaching. He survived the accident partly because he was well trained, wearing full protective clothing and in particular, a very good helmet."
