KENT tackle dealer Steve Allmark won two gold medals at the World Shore Angling Championships at Chesil Beach.

Allmark, from Dover, has fished for England for several years but this was his best result.

His success came from catching garfish and dogfish, a tactic he had been practising for months.

Allmark won his zone on three days of the event and came fourth on the other to win the individual gold medal.Team-mate Ian Golds was second.

Allmark then added team gold with the England squad, who won on all four days of the championships. France were second and Germany third. The other members of the England team were Ian Golds (Portsmouth), Paul Stevens (Worthing), Bernard Westgarth, (Darlington) and Darren Philips (Portsmouth).

The England ladies’ team also won gold, the individual silver medal going to Pauline Ferry, of Wallsend.
