Serious crash closes A251 Ashford Road between Sheldwich and Leaveland, Faversham

A key road was blocked both ways this morning following an accident involving three vehicles.

Traffic queued on the A251 Ashford Road near Faversham after the crash in Sheldwich, which happened at about 7.15am.

The road was shut in both directons between Leaveland and Old Badgins Road, but has since reopened.

The area affected is from Leaveland to Old Badgins Road at Sheldwich.

A police spokesman said: “At around 7.15am, Kent Police was called to a three-vehicle collision near Badlesmere on the A251, Faversham.

“Officers attended alongside the South East Coast Ambulance Service. The road was closed in both directions for vehicle recovery, but the Ashford-bound lane has since been re-opened.”

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service added: “We were called to reports of an road traffic collision on the A251 at Badlesmere at approximately 7.25am today.

“One ambulance crew attended and assessed one patient who didn’t require hospital treatment.”
