Road rage assault after drivers refuse to budge

KENT police are appealing for information about a road rage incident in which a 60-year-old minibus driver was assaulted.

The minibus was travelling along Canterbury Road at Folkestone when it was forced to stop, bumper to bumper, with a dark green car, possibly a Ford Escort.

Due to the way cars had double-parked along the road, neither vehicle was able to carry on without the other reversing and giving way.

Both drivers refused to move, and a passenger in the green car got out and started arguing with the driver of the minibus. He then punched the minibus driver in the face twice causing bruising.

The offender is described as white, aged about 20, 5ft 11in tall, of slim build and wearing blue jeans and a black coat.

He was pulled away by the driver of the green car who is described as a white man, aged around 40, 5ft 5in tall, of large build with black hair and a beard.

The green car then reversed at speed, turned around and drove at speed towards the junction with Black Bull Road.

Police are keen to trace the driver and the passenger of the green car and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, and anyone who can help identify the offender.

The incident happened at about 3.15 pm on Thursday, January 12. Anyone with information is asked to contact Kent Police on 01303 850055.

Alternatively phone Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. The call is free, you do not have to leave your name and could be eligible for a reward.
