A suspect package was blown up by police at the Channel Tunnel site on Monday night.

A holdall had been abandoned at the Total garage and was spotted at about 6.15pm.

A 100-metre cordon was thrown up and the passenger boarding area and check-in were closed.

A controlled explosion was carried out on the package at about 7.45pm and it turned out to be full of clothes.

Freight services were unaffected.

Services at the tunnel were also disrupted on Good Friday when a shuttle broke down mid-tunnel.

Single-line working was brought in and there were delays to trains. Things were back to normal by Saturday.
