Fire destroys terraced house

A family were having to be re-homed on Friday night after a fire tore through their terraced house.

The fire broke out just before 5pm in Sun Road, Swanscombe, destroying two upstairs bedrooms and blowing out a window.

Four fire engines from Thames-side, Dartford and Swanscombe were sent and the road was cordoned off by police.

Two adults were treated at the scene for minor injuries. The man was treated for injuries caused by shattering glass. The family were able to get out of the house before fire crews arrived.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known and crews were preparing to go back in to the house and investigate how the fire started.
