Man injured after vicious street attack

A man had to ask for help from two strangers after he was viciously attacked in the street on his way home from a pub.

The 34-year-old engineer from Northfleet was bleeding and had passed out following the assault in an alleyway linking Wycliffe Row to Perry Street.

He was attacked as he walked home from the Rising Sun pub where he had been drinking with his brother.

The victim believes he was followed by two young Asian men, aged between 16 and 20, from the Texaco garage in Perry Street where he had called in to buy some food.

He asked for help from the occupants of a Vauxhall Meriva parked close to the turning point at around 2.30am on Sunday .

These two good Samaritans are being urged to get in touch with North Kent Police to help with their inquiries, as they may hold vital clues as to who was responsible for the vicious assault.

The victim’s injuries included a broken nose, swelling and bruising to his face, cuts to his head and possible broken fingers.

Police investigating the attack are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch. If you saw the victim on the night, or have information which may help with their inquiries, call DC Sam Myers at North Kent Police Station on 01474 366098 or Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
