Ebbsfleet United suffered their second defeat in five days after a late goal saw them lose at in-form Mansfield Town in Blue Square Bet Premier on Saturday.

Matt Green struck the only goal eight minutes from time as Fleet remained 14th - still one win away from securing their place in the division for next season with six games remaining.

Nathaniel Pinney saw a header saved by Alan Marriott early on but the hosts were in the ascendancy and Lance Cronin (pictured) did well to prevent Green opening the scoring at the other end moments later.

The Stags rattled the woodwork around the half-hour before winning a string of corners which Fleet did well to survive.

After the break Green made an impact in his own penalty area, finally clearing the ball in a goalmouth scramble from a Fleet corner.

Gozie Ugwu was introduced from the bench for Liam Enver-Marum to form a pacey front-line with Ricky Shakes, however it was the hosts who snatched the points when they launched a good move down the right which was finished by Green in the middle.
