Phone snatched in Gravesend street attack

A 40-year-old man was put through a frightening ordeal when he was attacked by two men who stole his mobile phone.

The victim was walking towards Woolworths in High Street, Gravesend, in the early hours of Sunday morning when he was approached by the two offenders, who asked him for the time.

When the man got out his mobile phone to check the time one of the men tried to grab it. He then punched the victim in the eye and pushed him to the ground.

The offenders continued to punch and kick the man while he was on the floor and stole his mobile phone. They also took a silver bangle and one of the victim's boots before running off towards the McDonald's restaurant.

The man suffered severe bruising to his arm and his face in the robbery, which took place between 2am and 2.20am.

Police are appealing for information and anyone who can help is asked to call PC James Heath at North Kent Police, quoting reference 21174, on 01474 565167, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
