A youngster who collects all things tortoise related has won a prize for his collection.
Cameron Jarvis, 11, is a pupil Gad's Hill School in Higham and scooped a collector of the year award.
Year 7 pupil Cameron won £200 when he was recognized by judges of Kent Life's first such competition.
His form tutor, Paul Wadey, has congratulated him and revealed the youngster plans to spend his prize money on cabinets for his growing collection and his trophy.
Mr Wadey said: "We are all very proud of Cameron's success.
"At Gad's we celebrate our children's personal achievements both within and outside the classroom and to have such an inspiring collection is testament to Cameron's thirst for knowledge and ongoing commitment to learning."
Cameron's love of the popular reptiles started after he read Roald Dahl's novel Esio Trot, which features a pet tortoise called Alfie.
From a young age, Cameron, who lives in Hempstead, Gillingham, began amassing cuddly toys and action figures and that soon evolved into more exotic pieces, including his very own pet tortoise.
He added: "I started my collection about three-and-a-half-years ago when I first started to become obsessed with tortoises after reading the book.
"I got my very own pet Hermann’s tortoise for my eighth birthday and since then my collection has really begun to escalate because everyone who knows me knows of my love of tortoises."
